Cuba Visit 2008

Cuba

I went to visit Cuba on June 25th 2008 and stayed for a month. I strolled through Havana and walked along the Malecon. I saw some famous sights such as the Che Guevara murels, Che's memorial in Santa Clara, Pinar del Rio and Vinales tobacco country, Cayo Coco island, Varadero beach, followed the Ernest Hemingway trail, visited colonial Trinidad and Santiago de Cuba in the east surrounded by the Sierra Maestra Mountains.

The Cubans love their music, cars, cigars, rum and baseball! I was lucky to visit the Casa de musica in Havana, Trinidad and Santiago where Salsa, rhumba and cha, cha, cha were played live to locals and tourists alike. I caught the end of the Cuban jazz fest in Santiago, which is very popular. Cuba is a beautiful country - full of varying landscapes, huge statues, billboards of Fidel and past historic heroes like Che Guevara, tobacco and sugar cane fields, bicycles, horses, carts, mopeds, 1950's cars, russian trucks, warm torquise sea water, white sands, palm trees, colonial buildings and beautiful friendly people! A cool Mojito in the shade of a palm tree, a straw hat, fresh mango, salsa in the air and the smell of a Montecristo cigar! Highly recommend the trip!!

Hasta luego..
